The Future of Cal MediConnect

On January 1, 2023, all Cal MediConnect Plans (CMC) will become Medicare and Medi-Cal plans operated by the same company. Your Anthem Blue Cross CMC Plan will change to an Anthem Blue Cross Dual-Eligible Special Needs Plan (D-SNP).

We are putting people at the center of everything we do. This is why our plans are created to offer the benefits and services members find most useful to help save money and be their healthiest. 

Important: The new plan provides coordinated care across both Medicare and Medicaid plans beginning January 1, 2023. Members will receive a new ID card in the mail. No action is needed. 

You will continue to get all of your services through Anthem Blue Cross Cal MediConnect until December 31, 2022. Then on January 1, 2023, you will automatically start getting services through your Anthem Blue Cross D-SNP and its matching Medi-Cal Managed Care Plan instead. Again, if you are in Cal MediConnect today, you do not need to take any action to enroll into the new plan and will not have a gap in coverage. 

Be on the lookout for these communications:

• September 2022: Your Annual Notice of Change (ANOC) kit with new plan benefit details 
• October-November 2022: Additional plan transition letters, including a Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) document 
• December 2022: Your new member kit and Member ID card for your Medicare-Medi-Cal plan. 

Beginning on October 15, 2022, you can access your important plan documents online two different ways:

1. Log into or register for your secure online account at www.anthem.com/ca. Select My Plans and scroll down.  
2. If you don’t have a secure online account, visit https://shop.anthem.com/medicare/ca and type in your ZIP Code. Find your plan and select plan documents.
