Coronavirus (COVID-19)

It’s normal to have questions about COVID-19 and protecting yourself and the people you care about.

Here are the answers to frequently asked questions. You can also check the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) website for up-to-date information.

How can I find a COVID-19 vaccine?

You can visit the CDC website to find COVID-19 vaccines near you.

Will I have to pay for the vaccine?

No. As a Medicare-Medicaid Plan (MMP) member, you will pay no copay during the national public health emergency. You can receive the vaccine from an in-network or out-of-network provider.

Why should I receive a COVID-19 vaccine?

It will help reduce the chance that you become sick from COVID-19. It may help reduce the spread of the virus. That can help us return to more normal day-to-day activities.

If you have questions or concerns about the COVID-19 vaccine, you can talk to your healthcare provider.

How do I know the new COVID-19 vaccines are safe?

Government and private companies have been working together using past research on similar viruses and combining resources. This reduces the time to research, develop, and produce vaccines.

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and outside experts carefully review any new drug or vaccine. When the FDA has approved a vaccine for emergency use, the FDA has determined that the benefits outweigh the risk.

Will COVID-19 vaccines protect me from variants, or changes, in the virus?

The CDC is following that issue closely. Learn more about the variant surveillance.

Can I receive the vaccine if I’ve already had COVID-19?

Yes, you can receive the vaccine if you’ve already had COVID-19. Some evidence suggests people can be infected more than once, so you may wish to receive the vaccine.

If I’m fully vaccinated, do I still need to follow guidelines on masks and social distancing?

The CDC guidance will continue to be updated. Learn more about the CDC's recommendations.
