Southern California Wildfires

On January 7, 2025, the Governor declared a state of emergency in response to wildfire activity in Los Angeles County:

  • Medi-Cal Counties impacted – Los Angeles

Anthem is here to support you during this emergency.  If you are an impacted member or provider, please call 888-285-7801.  Our team can assist by answering your questions such as accessing healthcare services or replacing a lost health plan identification card.

As with the past state emergencies, the following relaxed guidelines will be implemented temporarily, January 7, 2025 through February 5, 2025:

  • Anthem will allow members affected to request replacement of durable medical equipment or supplies.
  • Anthem will waive the notification time limit of medical necessity reviews for members affected.
  • Anthem will extend claim filing deadlines for members affected.
  • Anthem members can get emergency or urgent care services from any doctor or hospital if an in-network provider is unavailable due to the state or emergency, or the member is out of the area due to displacement.
  • Anthem’s 24/7 NurseLine can give you free medical information and advice 24 hours day, every day of the year. Call 1-800-224-0336 (TTY 711)
  • If you lost your medications in the fire, left them behind during an evacuation, or if your regular pharmacy is closed, you can refill prescriptions at any in-network or out-of-network pharmacy without prior authorization. New prescriptions can also be filled at out-of-network pharmacies, with costs matching your usual in-network rates.  You can find a pharmacy near you by calling Medi-Cal Rx at 1-800-977-2273 (TTY 1-800-977-2273) and press 7 or 711.
  • Getting care 24/7: Anthem is providing no-cost, unlimited LiveHealth Online medical and psychology visits during the California state of emergency.
