A big part of staying healthy is making it to all of your appointments. We can help you get rides to covered health care appointments at no cost. Your doctor will approve the right type of transportation for you.
Nonemergency medical transportation (NEMT)
You can use nonemergency medical transportation (NEMT) when you physically or medically are not able to get to your appointment by car, bus, train or taxi.
Before getting NEMT, you need to request the service through your doctor.
NEMT includes:
- Ambulance
- Wheelchair van
- Litter van
Non-medical transportation (NMT)
You can use non-medical transportation (NMT) when you are traveling to and from a covered Medi-Cal appointment.
Before getting NMT, you need to request the service through your doctor.
NMT includes:
- Car
- Bus
- Train
- Taxi
How to set up your ride
Schedule a ride by calling 1-877-931-4755 (TTY 711) Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Call at least five business days before your appointment, or as soon as you can when you have an urgent appointment. If you are a new rider, call at least seven business days before your appointment.
What you’ll need to schedule a ride
- Your member ID number (on your member ID card)
- Name and address of the doctor you are seeing
- Date and time of your appointment
