How to enroll

Anthem serves Medi-Cal and MRMIP members.

Medi-Cal is now available to all people 50 years of age or older who meet eligibility criteria. Immigration status does not matter. Call or visit your local county office for more information.

Medi-Cal

Enrollment is year round. If you qualify, you can enroll at any time.

1. Apply for benefits

There are four ways to apply:

  • Online at the Covered California website. Create an account to get started with your application.
  • In person through an Enrollment Counselor or at your county social services office. Find a location near you on the Covered California website.
  • Over the phone by calling Covered California at 1-800-300-1506 (TTY 711). This call is free. You can call Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.
  • By mail with a paper application. You can print one from the DHCS website. Applications are available in many languages. Fill it out and mail it to the address on the application.

2. Check your mail

Your local social services office will send you a notice telling you if you qualify for Medi-Cal. If you are eligible, you will receive a Medi-Cal benefits identification card (BIC) (if you do not already have one). You will also receive a packet to help you choose a health plan.

3. Choose Anthem as your health plan

Once you are enrolled, we’ll send you a welcome packet in the mail!
